Langtang Valley Trek

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, representatives of Himalayan Monks SP. Z O.O., operating through its local partner Jagadamba Holidays, will warmly welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, with the company’s logo (Himalayan Monks SP. Z O.O.) and traditional marigold garlands. In the event of a late-night arrival, private transportation to the hotel will be arranged by the representative.

Clients will be informed of tour briefings and group meeting times by a representative. During the meeting, travel plans and services will be discussed, and the trek or tour guide will be introduced according to the itinerary. All participants must complete a legally binding travel form and a non-liability disclaimer form. Any outstanding tour payments must be settled during this meeting.

The journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,503 m) is a scenic drive of about 122 km, taking roughly 6–7 hours by jeep. Leaving the city behind, the route passes through rolling hills, terraced fields, and rural villages, offering a glimpse of Nepal’s countryside. The road follows the Trishuli River and provides occasional views of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. Passing through towns like Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche, the drive becomes more adventurous on winding mountain roads before reaching Syabrubesi, a lively village and starting point for the Langtang Valley Trek.

Begin your Langtang trek after breakfast in Syabrubesi, following a scenic trail toward Sherpagaon. The route starts with a steady uphill climb to the Tamang village of Khangjim (2,280 m), passing through forests, terraced fields, and river views. This section offers a close look at local life and traditional culture.

From Khangjim, the trail continues more gently through lush woodland and small streams, with open views of the Langtang Valley and surrounding peaks. After walking about 10 km over 5–6 hours, you reach Sherpagaon (2,563 m), a peaceful village set on a ridge with sweeping Himalayan panoramas. This day blends cultural encounters with rewarding mountain scenery, making it a memorable start to the trek.

After breakfast in Sherpagaon, begin the scenic trek toward Thangsyap along the Great Langtang Trek route. The 11.6-km trail takes around 5–6 hours, climbing steadily through forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron while following the Langtang River. Along the way, you pass villages such as Lama Hotel and Ghodatabela, offering insight into the traditional lifestyle of the Tamang people.

The route crosses suspension bridges and small settlements like Rimche and Bamboo, with chances to spot wildlife including langurs, red pandas, and Himalayan bird species. As you gain altitude, the landscape opens to wide valley views and snow-covered peaks.

The trek ends at the peaceful village of Thangsyap (3,140 m), surrounded by alpine meadows and terraced fields—an ideal place to rest and enjoy the mountain atmosphere. This section of the Langtang Valley trek perfectly combines nature, culture, and Himalayan scenery.

After breakfast, trek toward Kyanjin (3,830 m), one of the most rewarding destinations on the Great Langtang Trek. The 10.5-km walk takes about 4–5 hours with a gradual ascent, allowing you to enjoy sweeping views of Langtang Lirung and surrounding Himalayan peaks.
The trail passes through forests, terraced fields, and traditional Tamang villages, offering insight into local mountain life and the history of the Langtang Valley. You will also pass the remains of Langtang village, a moving reminder of past natural disasters.
Kyanjin is a quiet alpine village surrounded by dramatic peaks and home to the historic Kyanjin Gumba monastery. It serves as an ideal place to rest, acclimatize, and absorb the beauty of the Himalayas. This stage blends scenery, culture, and reflection, marking an important milestone on the Langtang journey and preparing trekkers for the adventures ahead.

Start early for the Tserko Ri hike from Kyangjin Gompa (3,870 m) to enjoy clear Himalayan views and avoid afternoon clouds. This challenging day hike is one of the most rewarding experiences in the Langtang Valley. As there are no tea houses on the route, carry enough food and water. Those preferring a lighter day can rest and explore Kyangjin Gompa for acclimatization and photography.

The steep trail climbs through alpine meadows and yak pastures, taking about 7–9 hours round trip. From the summit of Tserko Ri (4,985 m), you are rewarded with stunning panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, surrounding glaciers, and snow-covered peaks stretching toward Tibet.

After enjoying the summit, descend back to Kyangjin Gompa. Whether you choose the demanding hike or a relaxed village day, this itinerary offers a perfect mix of adventure, scenery, and high-altitude Himalayan beauty.

Begin the day with a sunrise hike to Kyangjin Ri (4,779 m), one of the finest viewpoints in the Langtang Valley. After enjoying the panorama, return to Kyangjin Gompa for breakfast.

Later, trek downhill from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2,480 m). The 18.4-km walk takes about 6–7 hours and follows the familiar Langtang Valley trail through forests, riversides, and Tamang villages. Along the way, you may spot wildlife such as langurs and Himalayan birds.

Arriving at Lama Hotel, settle into a peaceful mountain setting and reflect on a day that perfectly combined high-altitude views with a relaxed descent through the heart of the Langtang Valley.

The trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (1,503 m) is a scenic and satisfying final section of the Langtang Valley Trek. Starting from Lama Hotel (2,480 m), the trail descends through bamboo and oak forests, terraced fields, and traditional Tamang villages while following sections of the Langtang River.

Covering about 11.4 km in 5–6 hours, the route includes a small ascent near Bamboo and a long, gentle descent. Along the way, trekkers enjoy peaceful forest walks, birdsong, and occasional wildlife sightings, with views of the Langtang Himal appearing between the trees.

As the landscape opens near Syabrubesi, rivers, villages, and mountain scenery come together to create a calm and rewarding end to the journey. This section beautifully blends nature, culture, and reflection, leaving trekkers with lasting memories of the Langtang Valley.

After completing the Langtang Valley Trek, enjoy a scenic drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu (1,400 m). The journey covers about 122 km and takes roughly 6–7 hours, following the Trishuli River through rolling hills, terraced farmland, and traditional villages.

Along the way, you can catch final views of Himalayan peaks such as Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung while relaxing after the trek. The drive offers a peaceful transition from mountain landscapes to the lively atmosphere of Nepal’s capital.

Arriving in Kathmandu, settle into your hotel and celebrate the end of your journey in Thamel, where vibrant streets, local cuisine, and cultural sights mark a fitting conclusion to your Langtang adventure.
