The Nepal Premium Rundreise is a 11-day cultural, scenic, and wildlife journey combining Nepal’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, historic hill towns, sacred Buddhist monasteries, Himalayan landscapes, traditional villages, peaceful lakes, countryside walks, and the rich wildlife of Chitwan National Park. The journey follows a diverse route from Kathmandu through Bhaktapur, Panauti, Namo Buddha, Gorkha, Bandipur, Pokhara, and Chitwan before returning to Kathmandu. Designed for travellers who want to experience Nepal comfortably and at a relaxed pace, the tour combines carefully selected cultural experiences, scenic journeys, premium travel arrangements, and opportunities to discover both Nepal’s heritage and natural landscapes.

The Nepal Premium Rundreise is suitable for couples, families, senior travellers, and travellers seeking a comfortable introduction to Nepal without a demanding trekking programme. Private transportation allows flexibility along the route, while selected walking and countryside experiences provide opportunities to connect more closely with local communities and landscapes. The journey moves from the historic monuments and vibrant markets of the Kathmandu Valley to peaceful Buddhist hills, traditional Newari settlements, historic Gorkha and Bandipur, the Himalayan scenery of Pokhara, and the subtropical forests and wildlife of Chitwan.

Kathmandu – City Life, Local Markets and Cultural Heritage

The journey begins in Kathmandu, Nepal’s vibrant capital and cultural centre. After arrival, there is time to settle into the hotel and experience the atmosphere of the city at a relaxed pace.

A gentle introduction to Kathmandu provides an opportunity to explore local markets, traditional streets, shops, courtyards, and everyday city life. The contrast between historic neighbourhoods and modern Kathmandu gives travellers an immediate impression of the country’s diverse character.

Depending on the arrival time, the first day can be enjoyed at an easy pace, allowing time to recover from the journey, explore the surrounding area, and experience the colours, sounds, and flavours of Kathmandu. The evening provides an opportunity to enjoy Nepalese cuisine and prepare for the cultural discoveries ahead.

Kathmandu Valley – UNESCO Heritage, Temples and Buddhist Stupas

The second day is dedicated to discovering the cultural and religious heritage of the Kathmandu Valley. The valley is home to numerous temples, stupas, palaces, courtyards, and historic monuments representing centuries of Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

Visit Pashupatinath Temple, one of Nepal’s most important Hindu pilgrimage sites and a major centre of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located beside the sacred Bagmati River, the temple complex is known for its pagoda-style architecture, shrines, ghats, and deeply spiritual atmosphere.

Continue to Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest and most important Buddhist stupas in Nepal. Prayer flags, monasteries, prayer wheels, and pilgrims create a distinctive spiritual environment around this UNESCO-listed landmark.

The day also introduces other important cultural sites of Kathmandu, providing an opportunity to appreciate Nepal’s traditional architecture, religious practices, artistic heritage, and living culture.

Bhaktapur, Panauti & Namo Buddha – Newari Heritage and Buddhist Traditions

Continue to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its traditional Newari architecture, temples, courtyards, palace buildings, and artistic heritage. Walking through the historic centre reveals intricately carved windows, traditional brick buildings, pagodas, and centuries-old cultural traditions.

From Bhaktapur, continue towards Panauti, a historic Newari town known for its temples, traditional houses, courtyards, and preserved cultural character. The quieter atmosphere provides a more intimate experience of traditional Newari life away from the larger tourist centres.

The journey then continues towards Namo Buddha, one of Nepal’s most important Buddhist pilgrimage destinations. Set among peaceful hills and forests, Namo Buddha is traditionally associated with a sacred Buddhist story concerning the Buddha in a previous life.

The area is centred around Namo Buddha Monastery, also known as Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery. Prayer flags, monasteries, forested hills, and distant Himalayan views create a tranquil environment that makes this one of the most memorable spiritual stops of the journey.

Namo Buddha Sunrise & Gorkha – Sacred Hills and Royal Heritage

Begin the morning at Namo Buddha, where the peaceful hilltop setting provides an opportunity to experience the monastery and surrounding landscape in the soft morning light. On clear days, distant Himalayan views add to the atmosphere of this important Buddhist pilgrimage site.

After breakfast, continue towards Gorkha, a historic hill town associated with the former Gorkha Kingdom and the unification of modern Nepal. The journey passes through changing landscapes of green hills, terraced farmland, river valleys, forests, and traditional settlements.

The main attraction is Gorkha Durbar, a historic palace and temple complex situated on a hill above the town. The site reflects the political, religious, and cultural history of the former Gorkha Kingdom and offers broad views across the surrounding hills.

The combination of sacred Buddhist heritage, rural landscapes, and Nepal’s royal history makes this section an important part of the Nepal Premium Rundreise.

Gorkha & Bandipur – Sunrise, Royal History and Newari Heritage

Enjoy the peaceful morning in Gorkha and, depending on weather and local conditions, experience the surrounding hills and early morning landscapes before continuing towards Bandipur.

Bandipur is one of Nepal’s most attractive historic hill towns, known for its beautifully preserved Newari architecture, traditional houses, stone-paved streets, temples, courtyards, and peaceful atmosphere. Located on a ridge above the Marsyangdi Valley, the town combines cultural heritage with scenic mountain landscapes.

A walk through Bandipur’s historic centre provides an opportunity to appreciate traditional architecture and observe the slower rhythm of life in a Himalayan hill settlement. On clear days, the surrounding landscape opens towards impressive Himalayan ranges.

Bandipur’s combination of history, architecture, local culture, and mountain scenery makes it a particularly memorable overnight stop between Gorkha and Pokhara.

Pokhara – Scenic Hills, Lakes and World Peace Pagoda

Continue from Bandipur towards Pokhara, one of Nepal’s most popular scenic destinations. Set beside Phewa Lake and surrounded by green hills and Himalayan peaks, Pokhara offers a striking contrast to the historic environments of Kathmandu, Gorkha, and Bandipur.

Explore the World Peace Pagoda, also known as Shanti Stupa, situated on a hill overlooking Phewa Lake and the Pokhara Valley. The white Buddhist monument provides a peaceful setting with views across the lake, surrounding hills, and, on clear days, the Himalayan ranges.

Continue exploring Pokhara’s scenic attractions and lakeside environment. The city offers a relaxed atmosphere, with opportunities to enjoy views of the surrounding mountains, explore the lakeside area, and experience one of Nepal’s most beautiful urban destinations.

The combination of Himalayan scenery, peaceful lakes, green hills, and cultural attractions makes Pokhara a central highlight of the Nepal Premium Rundreise.

Sarangkot – Sunrise and Countryside Hiking Experience

Begin the day with an early visit to Sarangkot, one of the most famous viewpoints around Pokhara. Situated on a hill above the valley, Sarangkot is renowned for panoramic Himalayan views and spectacular sunrise scenery.

On clear mornings, the viewpoint provides views towards Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), creating an impressive Himalayan panorama.

After enjoying the mountain scenery, continue with a countryside hiking experience through the hills and traditional settlements around Pokhara. The walking route provides an opportunity to experience Nepal beyond its main tourist centres, passing through rural landscapes, farmland, forests, villages, and traditional communities.

This gentle countryside experience adds a more personal and active element to the Nepal Premium Rundreise, allowing travellers to enjoy both Himalayan scenery and everyday rural life.

Chitwan National Park – Scenic Journey and Jungle Experience

Leave the mountain landscapes of Pokhara and travel towards the southern lowlands of Nepal and Chitwan National Park. The journey offers another dramatic change in scenery as the road descends from the hills towards the subtropical Terai.

Chitwan National Park is one of Nepal’s most important wildlife areas and is renowned for its diverse ecosystems and rich biodiversity. The park is home to wildlife including one-horned rhinoceros, wild elephants, deer, crocodiles, monkeys, and numerous bird species, with the possibility of encountering other wildlife depending on conditions.

Upon arrival, begin experiencing the peaceful jungle environment and surrounding communities. Depending on the schedule and local conditions, the programme may include nature walks, village experiences, sunset views, or other activities arranged through the lodge or local guides.

The transition from Himalayan hills to subtropical jungle makes Chitwan a distinctive and exciting part of the journey.

Chitwan National Park – Wildlife and Jeep Safari Experience

Enjoy a full day exploring Chitwan National Park, one of Nepal’s premier wildlife destinations. A jeep safari provides an opportunity to travel deeper into the park’s diverse habitats and observe wildlife in its natural environment.

The safari landscape includes sal forests, grasslands, wetlands, and riverine areas that support a wide variety of wildlife and birdlife. The one-horned rhinoceros is one of Chitwan’s best-known species, while the park is also home to deer, wild boar, crocodiles, monkeys, and many species of birds.

Alongside the wildlife experience, there may be opportunities to learn about the local Tharu culture and traditional way of life. The combination of wildlife, nature, local culture, and jungle landscapes provides a completely different experience from the Himalayan and cultural environments visited earlier in the tour.

Journey Back to Kathmandu – Leisure and Cultural Farewell

After the Chitwan experience, begin the journey back towards Kathmandu. The route gradually leaves the subtropical Terai and climbs back through the green hills of central Nepal.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, the remainder of the day is kept relaxed. Depending on arrival time, travellers can enjoy leisure at the hotel, explore nearby streets and markets, or revisit favourite parts of the city.

The evening provides an opportunity to enjoy a final Nepalese dinner and reflect on the diverse experiences of the journey, from UNESCO heritage sites and Buddhist monasteries to traditional hill towns, Himalayan landscapes, countryside communities, and Chitwan’s wildlife.

Leisure in Kathmandu – Optional Cultural Exploration

Enjoy a relaxed day in Kathmandu at your own pace. The day provides flexibility after the varied journey through Nepal and is ideal for shopping, exploring Thamel, relaxing at the hotel, or enjoying a leisurely walk through the city.

For travellers interested in additional cultural experiences, an optional visit to Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, can be arranged. Situated on a hill overlooking Kathmandu, the stupa is one of the valley’s best-known Buddhist monuments and offers panoramic views across the city.

Another optional visit is the Narayanhiti Palace Museum, the former royal palace of Nepal. The museum provides an insight into the country’s modern royal history, palace life, and important political events.

The flexible programme allows travellers to enjoy Kathmandu according to their interests before the final departure.

Final Departure – Concluding Your Nepal Premium Rundreise

The final day is reserved for departure from Kathmandu, with the schedule kept flexible according to your flight time. Depending on the departure arrangements, there may be time for a final walk, shopping, relaxation, or a last Nepalese meal before transferring to Tribhuvan International Airport.
